Information about the Port of Oulu

The Port of Oulu is one of the leading ports for forest industry products and unitized cargo on the Gulf of Bothnia. The harbours in Oritkari, Nuottasaari, Vihreäsaari and Toppila have 500 - 600 ship calls each year.

The volume of goods traffic exceeds 3 - 3,5 million tonnes per year. In 2009, exports accounted for some 60% and imports for about 40% of total traffic volume. The most important export product is paper. The two largest imported goods categories are liquid fuels and raw materials used by the forest industry.

In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in container traffic volume. The number of containrs handled by the Port corresponded to nearly 31,000 TEU. More than 17,000 SECUs or Stora Enso Cargo Units were handled. In terms of normal containers this figure corresponds to nearly 100,000 TEU.
