International connections
From the Port of Oulu there are direct railway and highway connections to the Russian Karelian Republic. Railway connections run south from the mining town of Kostomuksha to the heartlands of Russia. The shortcut railway line between Kostomuksha and Murmansk links the Port of Oulu with the Kola Peninsula and Northwest Russia. The vast natural wealth of these areas holds great potential also for Western investors.
The Port of Oulu offers a direct railway connection for general cargo and container traffic as well as for project transports.
